School visits
One of my favourite things is visiting schools. Teachers, you may find some useful things in the teachers' pages.

13th February 2009 Until today, I have been snowed in for two weeks! I had to walk to a story-telling venue. Click on the thumbnail to see a bigger picture.
Here is a great idea for you and your school to help a really special charity. Check out the Up For Reading website. There are fantastic prizes for individuals and schools from writers like Anthony Horowitz and Jeremy Strong, illustrators such as Nick Sharratt and even some goodies signed by Damian Lewis from the Stormbreaker film! The prize I am offering is to be a 'virtual writer in residence'. That means that I could be on the end of a webcam for your school for a whole term.
October I really enjoyed my school visits this month. It is such fun meeting so many interesting and clever people!
The Time Wreccas is just about to be translated into its ninth language. I am very excited that I get mail from all over the world. Perhaps I will be able to visit some of the lovely countries where people are reading my books.
September The Time Wreccas has just been published in Germany. It is a beautifully made hardback with one of those ribbon book marks sewn in. I'll have to learn to speak German now!
August Have you seen Wow! 366? It's a collection of 366 short stories and each one is exactly 366 words long. It's specially designed for the leap year - 366 days - get it? I've got a story in there along with some other great authors and celebrities. You can buy Wow! 366 from Amazon and high-street bookshops, and £1.00 goes to charity too. I hope you enjoy it.

In October 2007 I had a great day out at The Roald Dahl Museum in Great Missenden. I love seeing where and how other writers work and so it was fantastic to be able to sit in Roald Dahl's chair. The museum shop has a display of Matilda's Reading List and I was really excited to see The Time Apprentice right in the middle!

Did you know that Welsh schools are eligible for assistance with funding the costs of visiting writers? Check the Academi website.
